Gym & Coffee

“We chose to partner with Waste2Wear because of their innovation in plastic recycling. We started with the ‘I used to be a fridge’ bags and chose to partner on the mens swim short range because we believe in the transparency of their blockchain. We are serious about sustainability and want to help clean up our oceans by being the first in Ireland to use the more costly, ocean fabric. Each pair of shorts has a QR code on the label, when you scan it you can see the origin of the plastic waste and learn how many bottles we saved in this production run.”

Background:

Gym+Coffee is an athleisure brand and community of people with a passion to Make Life
Richer. Proudly designed in Ireland, Gym+Coffee was created in 2017 by three friends on a mission to
bring high quality athletic clothing to a discerning and demanding audience.
Through the fine quality and durability of their range, and the recent addition of Niall Horan to their
team, they are now one of the most recognisable athleisure brand in the UK and Ireland and are
expanding rapidly through online demand in key markets including Australia, North America and Europe.

Collaboration

In 2020 Gym+Coffee were the first in Ireland to introduce the Waste2Wear ‘I used to be a
Fridge’ bags into their stores. These award winning bags are the only bags in the world made from
discarded household appliances, reducing the amount of plastic waste in our environment.
In addition to that, Gym+Coffee designed mens swim shorts made by Waste2Wear entirely out of 8
recycled plastic bottles. Not only that, 30% of these bottles have been saved from entering the oceans.
These shorts are part of Gym+Coffee’s ‘Amarach’ range. Amarach means ‘Tomorrow’ in the Irish
language, giving their consumers the promise of a cleaner future.
